Located just 20 minutes from Cowra, visit the Koorawatha Nature Reserve, home to the famous Koorawatha Falls and Weir. The weir was built across the Bang Bang Creek in 1913 to supply water to the railway. The name Koorawatha is a Wiradjuri word and means ‘A place of pine trees’.
Continue past the Weir to find Koorawatha Falls, located about 7km from the highway. Please note that the Falls are only accessible with extreme care along an uneven dirt track and by 4 wheel drive vehicles only. The falls are at their best and most visible after rainfall.
Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the rushing of water as you sit by the water’s edge or walk back to the 4WD area where there are BBQ and picnic tables you can sit at.
