Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens

Just 4 kilometres from Young’s town centre, the Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens offer a peaceful retreat at Chinaman’s Dam Reserve. This stunning garden is the perfect place for a relaxing morning or afternoon, featuring picnic areas and free barbecue facilities for a leisurely day out.

Cross the wheelchair-accessible bridge, passing the elegant marble lion sculptures that mark the entrance, and head towards the viewing platform. Here, take a seat and enjoy open views of the lush gardens and the beautiful Pool of Tranquillity.

The gardens were established in 1992 to recognise the vital contributions of the Chinese community to Young’s settlement in the 1860s and their enduring impact on Australia’s cultural landscape. Heritage signs throughout the site provide fascinating insights into the gardens’ history and the story of Chinaman’s Dam. To learn more, pick up a factsheet from the Young Visitor Information Centre or visit the nearby Lambing Flat Folk Museum to further explore the site’s rich history.

Each season brings something different to discover, from colourful autumn foliage to spring blossoms and changing garden displays, making the gardens a popular location for photography throughout the year. Fishing is permitted at Chinaman’s Dam; however, boating is not allowed.

Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on leads, as the area is home to abundant birdlife.
