Young and District Family History Group Inc

The Young and District Family History Group welcomes visitors looking to uncover their connection to Young and the surrounding region through family history and local research.

Conveniently located within the same hallway entrance as the Young Historical Museum, volunteers will assist you in tracing family stories, researching ancestry and exploring the region’s rich heritage. Many visitors are surprised to discover long-standing family links to the Hilltops Region and nearby districts.

Research assistance is available for those exploring family trees, local history, immigration records, war service history and convict ancestry, with experienced volunteers helping guide visitors through the process. Whether beginning a search or trying to uncover missing pieces of the puzzle, the group offers access to valuable resources and local knowledge in a supportive environment.

Visitors can also browse a range of publications available for purchase, offering further insight into local families and the history of the district. For those unable to visit in person, research services and postage options are also available.

The Young and District Family History Group is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of the region, helping future generations connect with the people and places that shaped the district. General access and assistance are free, with a small donation appreciated for more detailed research requests to support the volunteer-run organisation.
