Experience the beauty and discipline of traditional East Asian brushwork at the Calligraphy Exhibition hosted by Forever Young Gallery in Young. Held during the National Cherry Festival and continuing beyond, this exhibition brings together the works of acclaimed Korean artist Hyosoon Shin and celebrated Australian sumi-e artist Stephen Carroll.
Hyosoon Shin’s collection showcases over four decades of mastery in Korean calligraphy and ink painting, highlighting the purity of nature through delicate brushwork and refined use of colour. Her award-winning pieces, exhibited internationally, offer a rare glimpse into the elegance and depth of Korean fine art.
Alongside her work, Stephen Carroll presents a captivating series of sumi-e and Chinese brush paintings, shaped by years of study and exhibitions across Japan, China, Korea, Canada and Australia. His art reflects a deep cultural exchange between East and West, blending technical precision with quiet expression.
Mandy McDonald brings a striking contrast through her luminous glass artworks, crafted using fusing, slumping and casting techniques. Her works explore texture, colour and form, creating both functional and sculptural pieces that reflect her 25 years of experience in warm glass.
Visitors to the gallery on the first opening afternoon will be welcomed with a traditional Korean Tea Ceremony, offering a serene introduction to the exhibition and a celebration of cultural harmony in the heart of the Hilltops Region.
