Meet Suez Hardy owner of Green Glass Studio
When it all began, I can’t say for sure, what I remember is the way it made me feel. For me working with metals is a labour of love as I connect my mind to my hands. The repetitive hammering is my drum. My senses are alive as I sand and smooth a piece of recycled copper pipe. Who wouldn’t want to do this every day? This is how Green Glass Studio began… A dream, a feeling, a wanting and the nervous courage to make a lifestyle change. I left my secure Administration job sitting at a desk all day, to explore the possibilities of becoming a Maker for a living. It just felt right! It was around the time our last child finished school, after lovingly nurturing our 4 children to adulthood it felt like it was my time! I attended a workshop to learn the art of glass bead making using a torch and flame. Melting hot glass onto a mandrel and slowly twisting and turning was extremely therapeutic and so rewarding. I still make Glass beads today. My next workshop a Silversmith one, every week for about 6 months, this was my aha moment! I’ve always been passionate about jewellery, I love looking for it, feeling it on my body and now making it. I am a nature loving chic and feel a deep connection with Mother Nature. I care for her, therefore using recycled materials was second nature to me. I source materials from Australian businesses that share this ethos and I use natural alternatives to chemicals to finish my pieces. I love nothing more than to give new life to old items, re-purposing them into beautiful wearable pieces. I create slow fashion with intention & with love. I hope my pieces remind my customers to move a little slower, a little calmer and with a little more peace in your heart.
